About 8 years ago we voted to hold the annual Younkin (Junghen) family reunion on the 4th weekend in July. The planning committee will be busy planning the details for the 2002 reunion soon! The first planning meeting for the 2002 reunion was held Nov. 4, 2001 at Kay Lynn Younkin Wilson's home at 6104 Kingwood Rd, Markleton, PA 15551 -- or call 814-926-3146

SPECIAL NOTE - Due to increasing costs of printing flyers and mailing postage, the Reunion Committee decided last year to only mail the Reunion Invitation/Agenda to family members who have done one of the following:

1) attended a reunion in the past 3 years

2) sent either Donna Logan or Kay Lynn Wilson a SASE

3) sent a small financial donation to help with the costs

Weekend Schedule of Events

If you need accommodations for the weekend, most of us usually stay at the Ramada Inn in Somerset. If you would like to make reservations please call the hotel directly at 814-443-4646 and ask for the group rate for the YOUNKIN REUNION. (If you have any problem ask for Marge in their Sales Office). Our group rate is $59 per night and because we stay here they do not charge us for the Hospitality Suite for Friday's get-together.

Friday 4:30 PM til ?: Hospitality Get-together at the Ramada Inn, Somerset (immediately off the PA Turnpike, Somerset Exit). We'll be in our usual Room 194.

Saturday (Most events take place at Kingwood IOOF Picnic Grounds, Kingwood, PA):

10:45 AM - Flag Ceremony at Younkin Cemetery (Paddytown)

12:30 PM - Group Photo

12:45 PM - Picnic lunch, please bring a side dish or dessert, we provide the main course, plates, cups and utensils

1:45 PM - Short business meeting to make plans for the 2003 reunion

2:00 PM - Family auction (please bring one item per family to auction, this is our fund raiser for future family reunions!)

Remainder of the afternoon is for visiting and music!


8 AM - Family Breakfast at the Ramada Inn - all are invited even if you are not staying at the Ramada

11 AM - Family Service at the Historic Jersey Church - this year's theme is Patriots. This includes a Candle memorial service for our family members who have passed away in the last year. Refreshments follow including sandwiches, chips, cookies and punch.

And of course we'll also have our Quilt drawing.

Register Early - Anyone who registers before July 6th will be entered into a drawing for a plaque painted by Kay Lynn Younkin Wilson. Early registration also allows us time to make your personalized Reunion Button (these are really becoming collector's items!)

If there is enough interest in a tour of the historic family sites, we will work to accommodate this.

Please bring your family memorabilia to share with all the cousins.
