Joseph R. Panone

Joseph R. Panone, 87, of Dunbar, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at home. He was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Dunbar, a son of the late Frank and Mary Ann Panone. He was a retired inspector for PennDOT. He was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Also, he was a member of Sons of Italy, Dunbar.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by his wife, Anastasia Younkin Panone, on June 14, 1996; brothers, Edward, Raymond and Anthony Panone; and sisters, Mary Panone, Rose Angelo and Elma Marzano. Survived by nephews, Gary Owens and wife, Beverly, his primary caregivers, Thomas and Dennis Marzano; nieces, Paula Nicolette and Shirley Johnson; great-nieces, Linda Thomas, who was thought of as a daughter, Shelley Keffer, Janina Hall and Stacey Lynn Plewa; and great-nephews, Scott and Brian Owens, Dennis and Joseph Marzano, Scott and Thomas Marzano, and Tim Duke; and 11 great-grandnieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar, today from 7 until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be said in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Ranch Road, Dunbar, with the Rev. Father J. Edward McCullough as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Thursday at 4 p.m.
