I found among my papers, a photocopy handed down through my Uncle, Wendell DAVIS. The caption on the photocopy states "Aunt Kate TRACKLER, Uncle Robert ELDER, Dad's (Clifford O.) Grandma DAVIS (Elizabeth ELDER). Elizabeth ELDER was born January 27, 1834 in PA. She married Lewis M. (believed to be Morgan) DAVIS (October 24, 1835) on April 12, 1857 in Hancock Co., OH. Of their four children, the oldest, a son, William Edson DAVIS (1858 - 1934) was the father of Clifford O. DAVIS, my grandfather. Elizabeth and Lewis' other three children were: Nettie-Jeannette (Net) DAVIS, b 1861, married to: 1) Daniel RODABAUGH and 2) Madison REIGLE; Margaret (Maggie) DAVIS, b 1869, married to: Joseph VanHOUTEN; and Ellen (Ella) M. DAVIS, b. 1873, married to: Richard DONALDSON. Elizabeth died May 12, 1879 at the age of 84 from Arterial Sclerosis, and is buried at the Eagle Creek Church Cemetery in Van Buren Twp., Hancock Co., OH. I would
like to hear from someone familiar with the Eagle Creek Church Cemetery
to determine who has done such a wonderful job of maintaining their
gravesites. They are located just to the left of the entrance of
the cemetery. Contributed by: Sharon (nee DAVIS) Lee Stasak (e-mail) |
