Hi folks,
It would be great for you to research more ELDER names around Glasgow and Elderslie.
I have doubts about the PAXTANG ELDER origins there, in spite of EGLE and others writing from PA history books.
Found:
WALLACE and ELDERSLIE:
at
http://www.braveheart.co.uk/macbrave/history/wallace/elder01.htm
"The original form of Wallace meant "Welsh Speaking",
and we know that William's ancestors followed these "Stewards" north as their vassals. In 1174 one Richard Wallace, who is generally regarded as being William's ancestor, witnessed a charter to the Abbey of Paisley.
The Wallaces were granted the lands of Elderslie sometime before 1250.

The map in the link dates from 1654.
It shows "Ellerslie" (near the bottom left of the map) near Paisley. The Wallace property
stands on the West bank of the Glenpatrick Water as the ruins do today.
It is shown fenced and surrounded by parkland. "
More about Y-DNA as found in Scottish DNA chart results - PAXTANG category is listed
as Haplogroup I2b2 = ISLES, VIKING, SCOTS -- may be originating from the SCOTTISH ISLES off the West coast. _________________ Nancy Elder Petersen
