About the Old National House tavern and stagecoach station - Uniontown, PA -
"on the northwest corner of Morgantown and Fayette Streets..."
"Among others who kept the NATIONAL were George EVANS and Col. SAMUEL ELDER.  The latter is still living, a hale octogenarian, at Ligonier, Westmoreland county, Pa." [1894]
...A mention of the People's Stage Line: "After a short run it was withdrawn from the road east of Wheeling, and transferred to the Ohio division."

Page 242 for the NATIONAL in "Historic Piittsburgh" - reveals the sentence… "subsequently sold and conveyed it to JOSHUA MARSH, who opened it as a tavern." ….The NATIONAL was a well kept house…."Mr MARSH, its old
proprietor, was a man of retiring disposition, gentle manners, and feeble health…
