Do you have any results from the this DNA test? George Walker Elder is my gg-grandfather. I am at a dead end and cannot make a connection to any of the Elder lines.

Hi M.D.
No results from the DNA lab yet, but eagerly awaiting reports!
I'll post them here as soon as they arrive, probably after Sept. 15.
It usually takes about 4 weeks for the report to be sent via e-mail
to our ELDER DNA project files.
Also check the Y-RESULTS on ELDER DNA chart, where the lab
automatically posts the marker numbers
at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Elder

Always hoping for more connections!

PostPosted: Thu Sep 30, 2010 8:00 pm    Post subject: DNA chart "Western North Carolina" - FamilyTreeDN Reply with quote

Just discovered a new "Western North Carolina" DNA chart on the
FamilyTreeDNA server, now posting our ELDER matching entries:
at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/wnorthcarolina/default.aspx?section=yresults

From YSEARCH chart,
now comparing kit #114538 of North Carolina
with #187668 (ancestor "George Walker Elder) at 37 markers,
has 11 markers different (was 4 markers different at 25):
at
http://tinyurl.com/26he3e9

1. 8NC3G #114538 Alexander Co NC, Iredell Co NC, Scotland
2. GNU5S #187668 Alabama, Scotland
with 12 markers, difference = 1
with 25 markers, difference = 4
and 37 markers, difference = 11

So it's a bit more different than I thought it would be at 37,
but I still think a Scotland ancestor is involved with all 4
of the North Carolina kits, and also with the "FRANKLIN CO PA" group.

I am still having trouble locating the parents of George Walker Elder (1861-1920). I think his mother is Clarissa Davis, but cannot find anything on his father. I have tried the Sewell connection but cannot find a connection with the Sewell's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Diane,
Checking your ADMIN REPORT PAGE, still finding no ELDER in MATCH LIST for 37 or 67 markers--
I believe we should keep looking for more "Other surname" matches available.
From the 67 marker matches, this MEDLEY entry (64/67) doesn't give us much help, but
we could ask more questions of the sponsor, Sharon Medley.
See:
