MACKIE kit from Australia is #49459 on ELDER chart,
matching "FRANKLIN CO PA," also McPHERSON and LEE at 67 markers.
His Ancestor: "William MACKIE, b. 1759 Scotland."
MACKIE ordered upgrade to 111 markers. (LEE also ordered 111).
He has been searching LDS for early (1600's) SCOTLAND
marriages of MACKIE and ELDER.
One theory is they traded names in early marriages.

at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_Monimail
…"The Palace of Monimail, also known as Monimail Tower,
was a Renaissance palace in Fife, Scotland.
A residence of the Archbishops of St Andrews from the 13th century, in the early 17th century Monimail became a chief seat of the Melville family.
Lord Monimail is one of the subsidiary titles of the Leslie-Melville Earls of Leven. It was abandoned in the late 17th century and subsequently most of the palace was demolished. One tower remains standing in the grounds of Melville House near the village of Monimail, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of Ladybank."

>Hello Norrie G.,
>You will recall that "you had a bit of a daunder" round the cemetery at Leslie a short time ago and managed to find some bits of information about various people of interest to us.
>I don't think that I would have to explain to a fellow Fifer how places like Freuchie, Falkland and Kettle are very close together, and how the lads seemed to fancy the lassies from neighbouring parishes.
>Me? Well I had to journey south into the land of the Sassenach's to find my wife of 50 years! Keeping the closeness of the villages in mind, I have had quite a time in examining some of the deaths of members of the Elder family.
>I have to admit that I was quite surprised to see how the Elder family had accumulated around the KETTLE area. However, many of the records that I was examining were of the mid to late 1700's, and if there were gravestones erected by ordinary people, they would have been eroded or badly overgrown a long time ago.
>However, many of the Spouses seemed to repeat over and over again, such as the Mackie's and the Gordons. As examples, I could quote Thomas Elder who married Margaret Mackie on 8th November, 1745 as well as a Robert ELDER who married a Janet GORDON on 29th November, 1826.
>I know of your interest in this neck of the woods and of certain families that are tucked into your Family Tree somewhere. It's amazing how the research of other people on RootsChat can sometimes provide that missing bit of information. It's great when that happens, and saves one an awful lot of time and energy!
>Are the cemeteries around Kingskettle and Ladybank as small as I seem to remember? ….. >Best wishes to you and yours,
