I sent this DNA news to my McPHERSON cousins on Facebook:
>Today I finally decided to order the $99 DNA kit from "23andMe Inc.," titled, "Personal Genome Service" (Saliva Kit Plus $9.95 shipping, pays To and From lab).
Corporate info: "23andMe, Inc. uses the clinical laboratory services of National Genetics Institute, a subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation, 2440 S Sepulveda Blvd., Ste #130, Los Angeles, CA 90064.
© 2007-2013 23andMe, Inc. 1390 Shorebird Way, Mountain View, CA 94043"
I had been thinking that all of their added "Medical analysis" was too much info.
Now it seems to promise more helpful family tree info as well, with their
"RELATIVE FINDER" - autosomal DNA" report for both men and women:
includes:
"Principal Product Scientist Mike MacPHERSON, PhD.," with his photos and news
at
http://blog.23andme.com/ancestry/23andmes-newest-feature-explores-your-ancestry
.."The new feature replaces 23andMe’s “ancestry painting” and “global similarity,” two tools that were equally pioneering when they were first introduced. But with Ancestry Composition "23andMe" breaks new ground and sets a new standard for determining genetic ancestry.
…"Includes more links to info by Mike MacPHERSON:…"If you’d like to see more detail on how this was done you can look both at a white paper put together by Mike or a recent poster presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Human Genetics, which outlines the technique.
Another link for Mike MacPHERSON, with photo of Mike and Dr. Louis Gates:
"Behind the Scenes with PBS’s Finding Your Roots" (March 19, 2012)
at
http://blog.23andme.com/news/inside-23andme/behind-the-scenes-with-pbss-finding-your-roots/
..."As a PBS cameraman recorded the scene, 23andMe scientist Mike MacPHERSON drew lines connecting photographs of about two dozen celebrities to one another while Henry Louis Gates Jr. riffed on what those links all mean..."

January 22, 2012 - More about Mike MacPHERSON and other DNA experts:
at

..."Anouncing the creation of the "23andMe" Ancestry Ambassadors group, composed of ancestry enthusiasts in the 23andMe Community. 23andMe customer CeCe Moore and Product Manager Mike MacPHERSON, PhD will lead the new group."
