John Hansen's "Scottish Clans" Y-DNA chart will be reviewed soon by
Bruce Durie, Genealogy Studies Coordinator, University of Strathclyde
at Glasgow, the new Project Admin for "Scottish Clans DNA" (Feb. 2010).
Bruce Durie and Alastair MacDonald are colleagues at the University of Strathclyde at Glasgow Scotland.

>Hi John (and Bruce and Alasdair),
>Today I am encouraging more of my ELDER Y-DNA members to add markers to John Hansen's "Scottish Clans" chart.
We now have 20 ELDER entries posted on the chart, including my brother's kit #10042 (R1b1b), 7 matching his kit, plus #114538 (63/67)
and #16176 (22/25) in another location on the chart.
In viewing web info about Bruce Durie (b. 1954), now Genealogy Studies Coordinator at U. Strathclyde, Glasgow,
I see that he was a graduate of Kirkcaldy HS (Fife) and Edinburgh Univ, soon after Thomas Murray ELDER (b. 1950), now Baron ELDER in the House of Lords, graduated from both of those institutions.
I wonder if Bruce could ask Lord Thomas ELDER to participate in any DNA study? Does Bruce have any info about Lord ELDER's genealogy, name of parents, etc?
I have notes about ELDER names in Fife posted on my webpages
at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancyelder/ed/Fife.htm

Especially researching:
Alexander Lang ELDER of Kirkcaldy, Scotland --
in Australia and England

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancyelder/ed/AlexanderLangElderAustralia.htm

Alexander Lang ELDER and all 15 children listed neatly on a webpage
for Queensland Family Trees
at
http://queenslandfamilytrees.com/familygroup.php?familyID=F32&tree=5

Thanks for any help you can give me for discovering my ELDER origins
in Scotland!
