RE: ELDER DNA ANALYSIS finds differences in ELDER lines.
"Robert Elder, of Path Valley, Franklin County, Pennsylvania,
was born near Perth, on the Tay, Scotland...about 1730"
--ELDER HISTORY.

Looking at the "PETER ELDER" list, where the
DNA kits for descendants of
"SAMUEL ELDER d. 1811 Meigs Co TN" [Sevier Co TN]
ARE NOT MATCHING DNA of 4 "PETER ELDER" kits.

SAMUEL's descendants have
4 MATCHES with "FRANKLIN CO PA"
(using authoritative PA kits, 20 kits total are matching)

see Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas matches to FRANKLIN CO PA:
"WILLIAM ELDER" b. 1780 m. Rebecca Cate as
Ancestor of Ann ELDER POE,
(ELDER DNA kits #13706, #23663 as Sevier Co TN)= "Franklin Co PA"

brother
"John S. ELDER" b. 1782 m. Nancy Sullins as
Ancestor of John Silas ELDER b. 1845 TN d. 1913 AR = "Franklin Co PA"
(ELDER DNA kit #85035)

brother
"Jacob ELDER" d. 1818 KY as
Ancestor of (ELDER DNA kit #20638)= "Franklin Co PA"
****

DIFFERENT DNA:
ELDER DNA of "PAXTANG" (Harrisburg) PA is very different from
"FRANKLIN CO PA" and "PETER ELDER" groups.
(5 DNA kits of matching "I=ISLES VIKING DNA in PAXTANG group)

See ELDER surname DNA group charts for codes matching DNA:

ANALYSIS:

GROUP B.= "PETER ELDER" = (R1b1 Haplogroup)

GROUP C.= "PAXTANG PA" = (I ISLES) Haplogroup- VIKING DNA
ELDER DNA kits of "PAXTANG ELDER" - match each other 12/12
at

DNA analysis reports:
Group A and B have less than 2% chance of relationship to each other
while
GROUP A and B have NO (0%) relationship to Group C.

This is a quite different conclusion than many of the
ELDER family stories and histories we find in libraries,
which often describe these groups as closely related.

I'm beginning to think that more of the women of ELDER families
were related, to make some of the stories ring true.

On May 22, 2007,
I received National Archives xeroxes
for Civil War "compiled records" of
"JOHN S. (Silas) ELDER b. 1845 Harrison, Hamilton County TN"
[mapquest map for Harrison TN]
at
http://tinyurl.com/2cavvc

Used my computer scanner to post one webpage,
among copies of papers about hospital stays, pay cards, etc.
shows:
"Enlisted in Co. A, 2nd Reg. IL CAV
at New Iberia, LA, Jan 5, 1863....
also found:
"He owned his own horse and equipments...
entitled to 40 cts per day for use and risk of the same."

Scanned handwritten record:

We know "JOHN SILAS ELDER" was living in Denton Co TX
with his parents in 1860 census.
He is buried at Whittington Cemetery, Mt. Ida, Montgomery Co Ark.
****
also has CW PENSION:
Civil War Pension Index: (Ancestry.com)
Name: John S. Elder
State Filed: Arkansas
A 2 ILL CAV
1882 Oct 12
Invalid #46205
Certif. #897950 ARK

I now believe that "JOHN SILAS ELDER" of TN/AR
is in DNA group of "FRANKLIN CO PA"
(descendant of SAMUEL ELDER, d. 1811 Sevier Co TN) and
also related to the ELDER families of Moultrie Co IL,
so perhaps that's why he joined the regiment at New Iberia LA.
