Hi folks,
Today I discovered a new case of "other surname" matches
for the "Andrew ELDER of NC" -- DNA kit #12969,
at less than 34 of 37 markers, which
looks like a distant match, but worth asking more questions,
as the geographic location for the match appears in
North Carolina near other ELDER families.

Ed McKee is host of a new DNA chart for his
Haplogroup, titled the "R1b1c7" project,
also coded as the ancient Scots "NIALL" founder Haplogroup
on Katherine Hope Borges' Scotland DNA chart.

Now we have entered "ANDREW ELDER of NC" kit #12969
on this new McKee chart.
Click on Y-results link to view the chart:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/R1b1c7

#12969 "ANDREW ELDER of NC" shows as
red "Predicted" "R1b1" on this chart,
while his full "R1b1c7" or "NIALL" line
is reported on his FTDNA "personal page.
I sent a query to FTDNA to ask if it can be
changed on the new chart,
to show the whole new "subclade" as "R1b1c7".

Ed MCKEE's geographic location is near
WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY--
I just realized that Wake Forest U., at Winston-Salem NC,
is very near the location
where "ANDREW ELDER" families were living--
as we traced some of them in Alexander County NC.
We're still looking for any possible "other surname"
match there, while some ELDER DNA participants are also in
that locality with quite different DNA numbers, found
in the "Franklin Co PA" line.

Always a new mystery--hoping to find
any Scotland origins!

According to the latest FTDNA report,
the "Andrew ELDER of NC" SNP to
verify the Haplogroup "R1b1c7"
is in process of re-testing:

DeepSNP-R1b(DSNP-R1b)
kit #12969
Due: 11/06/2006
Batch: 171
The following SNP’s have not yet produced a clear result and are in
the process of retesting:
M126, M153, M160, M173, M18, M207, M222, M269,
M343, M37, M65, M73, P25, P66, SRY2627

Other DNA Genealogy experts have asked for notice of
entries for: M160, P25, P66 especially, and have reported
retests.
Will keep watching for the confirmation of
Haplogroup "R1b1c7" on the new McKee chart.

On the "R1b1c7 group" webpage, the
entry name for this ELDER kit has changed to GREEN, which means
it passed the SNP test for belonging to that group, for sure!
That's the most important news to the researchers, such
as DAVID WILSON, new host of the group, who has been posting
other pages about those special SNP tests.

Click on Y-results link to view the chart and other info about this group:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/R1b1c7

I'll watch for future subjects written about the SNP tests,
especially the items about M222+
which seems to be the most important.

Will keep these results from
HAPLOGROUP report R1b1c7
in my files for reference, too:

M173+ M207+ M222+ M269+ M343+ P25+
M126- M153- M160- M18- M65- M73- P66- SRY2627-
