Payton Clarence Elder born 1873 in Tyler Co., WV. Married Minnie Harter born 1884 in probably Harrison Co., WV. In early 1920s they moved to Allegheny Co., Pa. in/near Homestead Pa. Some of their descendents still living in the Homestead and Munhall Pa. areas. Interested in ancestors of Payton. Minnie Harter is my Great Aunt and I am also interested in finding the parents of her Grand Father William Morgan Harter born 1830 in Pa.

am now finding our ELDER names of Franklin Co PA and Westmoreland Co PA.

Posting my research for ROBERT ELDER, son of JOSEPH ELDER (1770-1858) on my webpage here:

Now I see Homestead PA is different than Homewood.
Found history of Homestead:
http://www.15122.com/HOMESTEADHISTORY

"This site will attempt to bring you the history of the Borough of Homestead, PA. Everything presented here is not a scholarly work but a compendium of known history articles and pictures of
our Borough. Homestead, PA was originally part of Mifflin Township in Allegheny County, PA. Mifflin Township came into being December 16, 1788. The seven original townships of Allegheny County were Elizabeth, Mifflin, Moon, Pitt, Plum, St. Clair and Versailles. This site was put together with input from members of the Homestead & Mifflin Township Historical Society. Additional histories of Mifflin Township can be found by visiting the Mifflin Township Historical Society home page. Homestead, PA can be considered as the "eldest child" community with Munhall and West Homestead, PA being incorporated in 1901. It is advisable to visit the Munhall history site also for further study with regard to the property of the original Carnegie Steel Company's Homestead Works.

Mapquest shows Munhall across the

Minnie's maiden name was Harter, not Harder. I have a total of 8 children for this family.
