1. Death Certificate #479 Ohio - Died of Lobar pneunomia. Doctor A. A. Sprague of Silverton, Oh. John's age at burial was 68 y, 1 m, 23 d. Copy of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetary burial record in files.Section G, Lot 86-A, Grave 2. There is an infant Jabez with no dates buried next to John. Could be a son. John's grave has a headstone with "Mason Jr. O. U. A. M." [Picture]
!John was a stone mason, who lived in a boarding house near the quarry, where he met Artie, who worked there. John's family were very disturbed when he married an Indian girl and almost disowned him. John and Artie later worked as missionaries to the renegade Cherokee Indians in Southwestern Ohio, with Artie acting as midwife who delivered most of theie babies. [Story from cousin John Lewis McCormack, who spent considerable time with Artie when he was young.]

Received copy of picture from Eileen (Don) McCormack of Fort Wayne, In. Also zeroxed copy of photo of John & Artie - probably about age 40-50, from Mom.
!John & Arie moved from Greensburg to Hamilton Co., Ohio about1901. They lived on Vorhees lane, at the corner of Sycamore Road in Rossmoyne until their death. [js note: check for when bought and sold property - also will.] |
