Jabez map from Falmouth, MA to Colchester, CT

Jabez Crippen, son of Thomas and Frances Bray Crippen, was the first Crippen born on American soil at Falmouth, MA, July 9, 1680.

His wife, Thankful Fuller Crippen, born May 10, 1688 at Barnstable, MA, was the daughter of (Little) John and Mehitible Rowley Fuller. Both were raised in East Haddam, CT, moving there in 1687. Jabez would have been seven years old, and Thankful was about one.

If you look at the map, you will see they were born only a few miles apart. The couple married July 9, 1707, at Colchester, New London Co, CT, about 136 miles from their birth places.

Jabez was 25 and Thankful was 17 when they married. The wedding took place two years after the death of Thomas Crippen. Both of Thankful's parents were alive for the wedding.
